The problem
Surge doesn’t forgive optimism
Tanker freight punishes inexperience in ways other equipment doesn’t: surge management, product handling, loading-rack procedures, placarded routes. An endorsement on a license is not the same as years behind a liquid load — and your insurance carrier knows the difference even when a lead vendor doesn’t. Tanker slates need to be screened on actual tank time, not keyword matches.
The screening
Endorsement plus verified tank time
Tanker candidates are screened for the N or X endorsement (stated up front, sanity-checked in screening; your CRA verifies formally) and for real equipment history — smoothbore versus baffled, food-grade versus chemical, rack loading experience. Equipment-experience weight is raised in the Fit Score for tanker seats, and comp expectations are matched against your written package only. Published tanker pay figures vary hugely by product and region, so we quote drivers your numbers — never a market average.

Tanker placements are quoted at $3,000–$4,000 on seat specs — flat and published, milestone-billed (45% seated / 25% day 14 / 30% day 30), with the written 30-day replacement guarantee. You’ll have the exact fee before anything is signed.
